RIB files: These are some simple rib files of various geometric shapes. They were all converted from an OOGL format to renderman RIB format using the mgrib driver from the Geometry Centers GeomView application, which is a mathematics oriented geometry viewer. OOGL stands for Object Oriented Graphics Library, a set of classes used here at the Geometry Center. The OOGL libraries utilize a driver to actually image the geometry (interactively or statically). Currently, there is a GL driver for SGI systems, a RIB driver to produce RIB files (non interactive, of course) and a QuickRenderman driver (almost done but still under development). An X windows driver for XGL is under development also. Those who are interested in getting GeomView for their irises can do so now via anonymous ftp to geom.umn.edu at /pub/geomview-1.1.tar.Z. It currently supports the RIB driver so you can do geometry related stuff and then turn it into a RIB file. The NeXT version of GeomView should be available shortly after 3.0 starts shipping. -Scott Wisdom [email protected]
