Subject: .sndfiles I am uuencoding you an .snd file of a piece of a Miles Davis digitized recording, "In a Silent Way"(1969) that has been sndcompress -4 and, I guess, could be decompressed, but I am not quite sure if that REALLY would restore the original quality. Because it has been compressed -4, this has to mean according to NeXT Unix Manual, that "bit-faithful" compression has not been performed, and the original sound will not be reproduced by decompressing. -4 was used because of size and space considerations, and the need to wind up with something like 1.5MB so as not to make FTPing horrendously horrendous. 1348434 Oct 14 05:12 beaver2u.snd Marshall F.
