Adobe Acrobat Distiller Server for UNIX ReadMe

  Thank you for purchasing Acrobat Distiller for Unix. This
  README file is accompanied by the tar file Dist-405.tar,
  which contains the entire release.


  How to install Acrobat Distiller
  --------------------------------

   The installation script installs support for both Sparc-Solaris and
   Pentium-Linux. It is therefore advantageous to install Distiller on
   a Unix file server that is accessible to all the Sparc-Solaris and
   Pentium-Linux workstations on the network.

   To unpack and install the release do the following:

   1. Login to a computer running Sparc Solaris 2.6 or
      later, or Pentium Red Hat Linux 6.0 or later.

   2. Copy the tar file to a temp directory which has at least
      100 MBytes of free disk space. Then use the "cd"
      command to go to that directory.  If the tar file name is
      dist-405.tar, rename it to Dist-405.tar (notice the uppercase
      "D").
      
   3. Extract the installer from the tar file.
      Type this command:

      tar xvBf Dist-405.tar ./Distiller.install

   4. Install Acrobat Distiller by running the installation script.
      The script will guide you through the installation process.
      Type this command:

      ./Distiller.install


   How to run Acrobat Distiller
   ----------------------------

   After the installation process has finished Distiller can be launched
   simultaneously by different users from any Sparc-Solaris and Pentium-
   Linux workstations that have access to the launch directory.

   In the following assume that the install directory was selected
   to be the shared directory: /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4

   1. To launch Distiller from a Sparc-Solaris workstation:

      Prepend this directory to your search path:

      /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4/Distiller/sparcsolaris

      Then type "distill -usage" to launch Distiller.

   2. To launch Distiller from a Pentium-Linux workstation:

      Prepend this directory to your search path:

      /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4/Distiller/pentiumlinux

      Then type "distill -usage" to launch Distiller.


   How to uninstall Acrobat Distiller
   ----------------------------------

   In the following assume that the install directory was selected 
   to be the shared directory: /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4

   1. To remove the entire installation, type this command:

      /bin/rm -f -r /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4/Distiller

   2. To remove support for Sparc-Solaris only, type this command:

      /bin/rm -f -r /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4/Distiller/sparcsolaris

   3. To remove support for Pentium-Linux only, type this command:

      /bin/rm -f -r /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4/Distiller/pentiumlinux


   How to correct an invalid Distiller Serial Number
   -------------------------------------------------

   If Distiller cannot run because an incorrect Serial Number was entered
   simply edit the Serial Number file  with a text editor  and correct
   the number. If the install directory is: /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4,
   the Serial Number file is:

   /usr/shared/Adobe/Acrobat4/Distiller/SERIAL_NUMBER
