Domino.Doc Imaging Client Release Notes for Beta 2 (October 1, 1998) ------------------------------------------------------- The Domino.Doc Imaging Client (Skylight) makes it easy to view, process, and create images allowing users to manage paper-based information with Domino.Doc. It allows users to create and author Domino.Doc Image Documents. It provides support for scanning, desktop-based optical character recognition (OCR), and annotation creation and editing. With Domino.Doc Imaging Client, organizations gain a robust solution for incorporating scanned images or existing image files on disk into Domino.Doc. Domino.Doc Imaging Client is available on Windows 95 and Windows NT for use with Domino.Doc 2.0. For further information on Domino.Doc, visit the product web site at http://www.lotus.com/dominodoc. Installation ------------------------------------ To install the Domino.Doc Imaging Client simply run setup.exe and follow the setup prompts. Getting Started --------------- Domino.Doc Imaging Client Beta 2 is pre-release software that is subject to abnormal operation. Safeguard your data by backing up frequently. In order to use Domino.Doc Imaging Client with Domino.Doc, a launch association must be set up inside the Domino.Doc Library Administration: ODMA Format: Domino.Doc Imaging File Extension: lif Application ID: Domino.Doc Imaging Description: Domino.Doc Imaging Document Also, Inside the ..\notes\data directory, add the following line to the file httpd.cnf: AddType .lif application/dominodocimaging 7bit Additionally, version 2.01 of the Desktop Enabler must be installed in order for documents to launch correctly from Domino.Doc. Known Problems -------------- XIF files do not open or display correctly. Domino.Doc Imaging Client supports binary (1-bit), 16-color (4-bit), and 256-color (8-bit) GIF files. 7bit GIF files are unsupported. Highlight annotations do not print correctly. After scanning the final page, the Domino.Doc Imaging Client application loses focus. The last application that was active comes into focus. Version 2.01 of the Desktop Enabler must be installed in order for documents to launch correctly from Domino.Doc. The OCR to Profile feature is currently disabled. This feature will be available with Domino.Doc server version 2.1.
